About me
I'm Janek Schwarz, 40 years old, married, two daughters, software developer. I live in Berlin, Germany.
This site is my personal home page. Come in and learn about me, my experiences and software.
I maintain two weblogs: The Wannabe Java Rockstar is the place where I post articles about various technical topics, mostly related to Java programing. A bit more personal is Janeks Logbuch, my German-speaking weblog about me and my life.
In my spare time I try to spend as much time as possible with my family. I also maintain a couple of web sites for friends and relatives, which collides with above intentions. I like photography, punk rock and Douglas Adams. I play in and lead a table tennis team.
Until March 2005, I was working as software developer and part-time developer for an IT company in Berlin. Together with a small, effective team we developed a unique plattform for the secure and reliabe exchange of business documents.
In 2007, after working as a independant software developer, I co-founded EDI+EXPERTS, a software and consulting company for the exchange of electronic EDI messages.
In the past I've worked as research assistant at Humboldt-University Berlin. In 1999 and 2000 I was a visiting scientist at the Department of Computer Science of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I did research with Prof. Lui Sha.
